June 11th was the first competition day of the CMAS World Championship Freediving Indoor 2026, taking place on June 11–14 in Novi Sad, Serbia. Many athletes came here directly from Budapest, Hungary, right after the World Apnea (AIDA) 2026 Pool World Championships. But several strong national teams that weren't represented in Hungary have now joined, including athletes from Italy, Croatia, and Spain.

On May 31st, the freediving world competition season started with the opening ceremony of the World Apnea (AIDA) 2026 Pool World Championships. The organizers are the biggest freediving club in Hungary: the nOxygen Apnea Club. Despite the fact that they are hosting the World Championship for the first time, they are quite experienced and known for the annual international freediving competition, the Hungarian Open Indoor Freediving Championship, traditionally held in November since 2021, implementing both AIDA and CMAS rules.
Just weeks after setting a 105m Free Immersion world record in the Philippines, Molchanovs athlete Zsófia Törőcsik is returning to the pool for the AIDA World Apnea 2026 Pool Championships in Budapest. She made history last year as the first woman to touch the 300m wall, so is Zsófia Törőcsik gearing up to do it again?
